“Pupils play happily with one another, accepting any differences between them”

A key aspect at British College La Cañada is the importance and attention we pay to the emotional development of our students.
In Health & Wellbeing we work on emotional intelligence and implement a programme whereby students develop social and emotional management skills, with the aim of promoting well-being and self-confidence, which encourages them to reach their maximum potential.
At BCLC, the attention that we provide to each student is fundamental, by monitoring their academic and personal development we ensure that each student progresses. By organising individual meetings on a regular basis, where both pupils and teachers review achievements and identify personal objectives to work on which allow achievement to be maximised.
Meetings on a regular basis
We organise individual meetings on a regular basis, where both pupils and teachers review achievements and identify personal objectives to work on.
In Primary, families have the opportunity to meet with their child’s teachers twice a year to discuss any relevant topics and to discuss their son or daughter’s progress. Secondary meetings take place during the “Academic Review Evening” where parents have the opportunity twice a year to speak with all specialist teachers about the student’s progress and discuss their next steps and goals in order to achieve.
The tutor
The role of the tutor is particularly important at Secondary school, as this person serves a first call for both parents and students, regarding any academic, social or emotional problems. The tutor is also the person who supervises the students’ academic progress and their daily school life, and is in charge of helping them to organise themselves and acquire the correct study skills in order to improve their learning.
